Everything you need to know about our resistance bands

Versatility and effectiveness are crucial for a successful workout routine. Bands are an excellent addition to any fitness regimen, whether you’re training at home, in the gym, or on the go. At Lifemaxx, we offer a wide range of resistance bands and tubes, each designed to support different aspects of your training. In this blog, we’ll explain which band is best suited for your needs, helping you get the most out of your workouts, whether for yourself or your clients.

What are resistance bands and why are they important?

Resistance bands are elastic tools that provide a unique way to add resistance or support during various exercises. Due to their lightweight, portable, and versatile nature, they are ideal for a broad range of training goals, including strength training, mobility exercises, rehabilitation, and more.

Why are they so valuable?

  • Increased muscle activation: By adding resistance to your training, resistance bands make your muscles work harder. This leads to increased muscle activation, contributing to strength building and endurance without needing to add extra weights.
  • Joint-friendly: Because resistance bands gradually build tension as they stretch, they minimize stress on your joints. This makes them particularly suitable for athletes of all levels, from beginners to advanced, and ideal for those recovering from injuries.
  • Versatility: Resistance bands can be used for all sorts of exercises. For example, they can increase the intensity of squats, deadlifts, and push-ups, provide support during pull-ups and dips, or allow you to perform exercises with more control and precision. They provide immediate feedback on your movement pattern, helping you adjust your technique and perform exercises correctly.
  • Mobility and flexibility: Besides strength training, resistance bands are also an excellent choice for mobility exercises. They help improve flexibility and range of motion, essential for a healthy and functional posture.
  • Rehabilitation and support: Resistance bands are indispensable for rehabilitation exercises. They offer controlled resistance, which helps gradually strengthen muscles without the risk of overloading. Additionally, they can also provide support during exercises such as pull-ups by carrying part of your body weight, allowing you to perform the exercise correctly.

Resistance bands
The Crossmaxx® resistance bands are versatile, 104 cm long elastic bands that can be used to improve strength, flexibility, and muscle definition. Available in six different resistance levels, they are suitable for a wide range of exercises, from stretching to adding resistance (think push-ups) or support (think pull-ups) to bodyweight exercises. The biggest difference between resistance bands and mini resistance bands is the length and resistance; while resistance bands are ideal for stretching, warming up, and adding or supporting bodyweight exercises, mini resistance bands provide extra resistance during weightlifting.

Mini resistance bands
Crossmaxx® Mini resistance bands are shorter than standard resistance bands and are specifically designed to add resistance during lifting. They are perfect for optimizing tension on the barbell during deadlifts and other lifts, without the need to tie the band. These bands are not suitable for supporting pull-ups but are ideal for exercises like bench presses, hip thrusts, and more. Available individually or in sets of four (HEAVY and LIGHT).

Hip bands and Booty bands
For a complete lower body workout, the LMX.® Hip band set and LMX.® Booty bands are perfect. The Hip band set is ideal for a full lower body workout, both as a primary workout and for warming up. The three resistance bands come with a pouch, making the set perfect for taking on holiday or to the gym. Booty bands, available individually in four resistances, are similar but focus specifically on strengthening the glutes. The Booty bands are also convenient for travel or gym use. You can always have your own band on hand to train wherever you are. The main difference between the Hip bands and Booty bands is that Booty bands are sold individually, while Hip bands come in a set of three. Both types of bands feature anti-slip edges to stay in place during intense exercises.

Mini bands
The LMX.® Mini band is a small but effective tool, perfect for intensifying classic exercises such as glute bridges and squats. These bands fit in any gym bag, making them ideal for taking to the gym or on the go. They are available in four resistance levels: from very light (yellow) to heavy (blue). While mini bands are excellent for coordination, mobility, and strength training, they are less suitable for adding resistance to lifts; for that, our Crossmaxx® Mini resistance bands are a better choice.

Training tubes and Power tubes
The LMX.® Training tubes and LMX.® Power tubes are versatile tubular elastics with handles. Training tubes are ideal for group classes, personal training, and rehabilitation, and can be used for numerous exercises such as reverse flys and overhead tricep extensions. The power tubes are a heavier variant, designed for intensive training sessions such as ClubCore and CXworkx. Both tubes are compact, easy to carry, and provide continuous tension during exercises, leading to deeper muscle activation.

Cobra resistance rope set
The LMX.® Cobra resistance rope set is an elastic rope that can be used for various training purposes, such as battle rope exercises and resistance training during sprints. This set is perfect for small group training, HIT workouts, and boot camps, both indoors and outdoors.

Flex bands
The LMX.® Flex band is a long, thin elastic band that can be used in group classes and individual workouts. This band is supplied in a 12-meter roll, allowing you to cut it to size for different exercises. The flex band is available in three resistances: light (yellow), medium (purple), and heavy (blue). By shortening the band or varying the number of repetitions, you can easily adjust the intensity of the exercise. They are ideal for training arm, leg, shoulder, and abdominal muscles.

How to use our resistance bands in your training

Resistance bands are incredibly versatile and can be used for various purposes. Resistance bands are perfect for making exercises more challenging or lighter and are also excellent for improving mobility.

There are countless ways to integrate resistance bands into your training, depending on your goals:

  • Strength training: Use resistance bands to add extra resistance to squats and deadlifts or to provide support during pull-ups and dips.
  • Mobility: Flex bands are ideal for stretching and increasing your flexibility and range of motion.
  • Muscle activation: Hip bands and booty bands are perfect for activating and strengthening your glutes and hips.
  • Rehabilitation: Mini bands are particularly effective for light resistance exercises during rehabilitation, allowing you to target specific muscle groups without overloading.

Tips for using bands

  • Choose the right resistance: Make sure to select a band that matches your fitness level and the specific exercise.
  • Check your form: Proper form is essential to prevent injuries and activate the muscles correctly.
  • Combine: Bands can be easily combined with weights or bodyweight exercises for a varied workout.
